residents of the Republic of Indonesia, through Spokesman Fadjroel Rachman, (21/9) considered elections in the pandemic period not impossible. He referred to other countries such as Singapore, Germany, France, and South Korea that successfully held elections with the implementation of health protocols. What was missed and unan revealed at the president's meeting was the relatively controlled case handling data in those countries.

Elina Ciptadi, Cofounder kawalCOVID19.id, exemplifies the organizing of elections in Singapore. Elections on July 10, 2020 are held when transmission cases in the community are low. Daily cases in total have also been low.

"On July 10th they had an election and when it was the number of cases in the community it was only a dozen. While the total number of cases is 150s," Elina said in the press conference "Civil Society Coalition Attitude Statement: Postpone the 2020 Election for the Safety of Citizens" Lives" (22/9).

In addition, the total number of cases can already be controlled. Positive cases have been isolated in worker dormitories and not coming to polling stations (TPS). TPS has also been set up not to create crowds by increasing the number and arranging the coming schedule.

While in Indonesia—referencing covid-19 report data—from 270 local elections, there are only 96 safe areas. A total of 174 remaining areas were considered unsafe—the number of positive cases and deaths continued to rise.

"This needs to be a fundamental consideration to stop and delay (elections) until the case is under control—there is no transmission at the local community level—so that elections can be conducted safely," said Irma Hidayana, founder of the Covid-19 Report at the same discussion.
