Campaigns in educational settings are quite worrying and can result in biased politicization. The General Election Commission must develop campaign methods in response to the Constitutional Court's decision so that election campaigns remain in accordance with statutory regulations. One of them, campaign permits in educational settings, must also include permission from the KPU.

"If the request for permission is granted at the request of each election participant, that is very serious; it could be a free market," said academic at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, Titi Anggraini, in an interview held by Muhammadiyah, Jakarta (6/9).

In the upcoming 2024 elections, there will be 18 national political parties and 4 local political parties in Aceh. So Titi proposed that campaign permits should only be given by the KPU, because otherwise they would be very vulnerable to politicization.

"The debate method is also modified to be progressive, which allows for substantive dialectics and does not involve mass mobilization," he said.

Furthermore, Titi added, there is a need to adjust campaign methods in educational institutions. For example, by not placing attributes and distributing campaign materials such as props and advertisements, Because according to Titi, if you trace the history of campaigns in educational settings, you want substantive debates, a battle of ideas, and more concrete answers to dialectical problems involving campus academics.

"Thus, the KPU must organize follow-up operations by involving actors in the education sector, starting from the Ministry of Education, higher education associations, and so on," he concluded. []
